    Palisade cells are specialized plant cells found in the mesophyll layer of plant leaves, specifically in the upper part of the leaf known as the palisade mesophyll. The main function of palisade cells is photosynthesis, the process by which plants convert light energy into chemical energy in the form of glucose.
    They perform the bulk of photosynthesis in leaves due to the abundance of the chloroplast. Palisade cells are well positioned to absorb sunlight required for plant food production. Their location also ensures that carbon dioxide required for photosynthesis does not need to travel a long distance to reach the chloroplast.
