  2. Heavy Reave is a directed attack against one enemy that inflicts more Biotic Damage over a longer period of time whereas Area Reave widens the Power’s Impact Radius to affect multiple targets. I suggest selecting Area Reave since this works very well in terms of stripping down the group’s defenses while dealing 40 points of damage.

    I strongly suggest area reave. The increase in damage you get with heavy just isn't that much at all, something like 40 points I think. Plus when you cast reave it sort of stuns the target. So if you get Area Reave you not only have a great power vs armor, but you have a crowd control ability as well. This works really well with Husks.

    Damage potential is much higher and you generally can hit groups together. As a sentinel I grabbed area overload as well and basically just trashed everything. Plus, heavy is only like 40 points more damage than area, which is means you do more EXTRA damage hitting 2 people at the same time once as you would from heavy if you used it four times.

    Depends on Difficulty, for Hardcore and Insanity, Area Reave as removing protections from mook level enemies is incredibly important and fully upgraded Area Reave is more than capable of doing so, Heavy Reave on the other hand even fully upgraded is incapable of fully removing the Barrier or Armor of Lieutenant Level Enemies.
