The squeeze test is an examination of the lower leg to determine whether there is a tear in the tissues connecting its two bones, the tibia and fibula. With the person sitting on the edge of the examining table with legs dangling down, the examiner squeezes the two sides of the lower leg together about 6 inches below the knee. If this produces pain in the lower portion of the leg, the test is considered positive. However, other conditions, including a fracture or muscle injury, can also cause the squeeze test to be positive.
