    Seborrheic dermatitis mainly affects the scalp but can also affect oily areas such as face, sides of the nose, eyebrows, eyelids, ears, chest and back.

    It presents as:

    • Scaly, flaking patches or dandruff
    • Red skin, generally accompanied with itching
    • Oozing and weeping eruptions in few cases
    • Greasy skin covered with white flakes, yellow scales or crusts

    Factors that could lead to the condition include:

    • The exact cause is unknown.
    • Excessive oil production from skin
    • Infection by fungus known as Malassezia
    • Poor skin care or hygiene
    • Pollution
