A leaky valve is a heart condition in which the doors or valves of the heart don't fully seal leading to leakage of blood. It causes blood to leak backward with every heartbeat. The severity of the condition depends upon the amount of blood leaked backward. In mild conditions, it doesn't need much treatment. The types of leaky valves are aortic regurgitation, mitral valve regurgitation, tricuspid valve regurgitation, and pulmonary valve regurgitation. The conditions causing leaky heart valves are rheumatic fever, endocarditis, aortic aneurysm, and cardiomyopathy. The symptoms of this are heart palpitations, chest pain, fatigue, weakness, and swelling in the legs.
